Melbourne Stencil Festival Inc is now offering great sponsorship opportunities for its 2009 activities.

The Melbourne Stencil Festival Inc. is an incorporated not-for-profit organisation. It is run on a membership-based structure and operated by a number of volunteers from both the artistic and professional sectors.

A board of four makes up the governing committee of the Melbourne Stencil Festival, all of whom own and operate successful independent businesses. These four individuals donate their time and are committed to the on-going growth and success of the event.

Background

The Melbourne Stencil Festival is Australia's premier celebration of International street and stencil art. Since being its inauguration in 2004, Stencil Festival has become an annual art event and touring

Held for 10 days each year, the festival brings a colorful program of exhibitions, live artist demonstrations, artist talks, panel discussions, workshops, master classes and street art related films to the general public.

The much-anticipated festival exhibits feature works by emerging and established artists from Australia and around the world.

In the past five years the Melbourne Stencil Festival has featured some 800 works by 150 artists including Logan Hicks, Kenji Nakayama, Broken Crow, Mephisto Jones, Sixten, and Australian artists Anthony Lister, Meggs, HaHa, Vexta amongst others. For many artists it has been the first major exhibition and a keystone for their career.

Through diversity and accessibility the festival proudly presents styles and approaches, such as stencil and street art, traditional graffiti, illustration and mixed media works and installations.

Every year the festival becomes a meeting place for artists from around Australia and the world to meet, network and collaborate, while the audience engages in a showcase of a fresh new art-form and the opportunity to collect affordable art.

Target Audience/Demographic Reach

In recent years the Stencil Festival has managed to create a reputation for presenting a fresh and innovative showcase of artworks, as well as an engaging program. Artists from interstate and overseas regularly visit the event and participate in the festival activities.

The festival has gradually been expanding its reach and reputation, with a growing coverage in mainstream media.

Its core audience consists mainly of young professionals and innercity business persons, families and students. The main demographic is between 18 and 35 years of age. Sixty per cent of the festival visitors are women.

The audience is arts-oriented, well educated and lives in the urban centres. Most of the demographic are young professionals, who work in creative industries and the arts sector, as well as students of secondary and tertiary education, teachers and art collectors.

In 2007, the event increased its reach significantly through touring nationally to four state capitals with media coverage in major newspapers (The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Courier Mail to name a few).

The number of visitors varied from city to city with strong visitor numbers in Melbourne and Perth. The Melbourne Stencil Festival event attracts around 4,000 to 5,000 visitors every year, with an average of 500+ people on the opening night alone.
